Hello. My name is Alexandra and I am a marriage and family therapist intern (#73462) at Networks Counseling Center in San Francisco, CA, working under the supervision of Dr. Rodney Shapiro, Ph. D. (Lic #7142).
My approach to therapy is specific to each of my clients' needs. I really want to take time to listen, understand, and support you while working through these tough times or issues you are experiencing. I have experience working with clients experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, relationship or marriage troubles, premarital counseling, nutrition and weight concerns, dream analysis, and complicated family dynamics. I am also knowledgable and experienced in working with children ages 4-13 through expressive play and art therapy, as well as providing education, support, and parenting guidance.
I will be with you in a supportive and comforting environment where we will begin to work toward helping you find solutions that work or acceptance of the issues that may not be able to change. I can provide a professional and objective perspective on your concerns so that you may have clarity in what your next steps should be. We will work together and I will be there for you during your process.
In general, I follow the principles of psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, object relations, and interpersonal theories, but conduct therapy based on what research has shown to be effective for what you may be experiencing.
